Tumblr is seeking an experienced leader for its Trust & Safety Team in Richmond, Virginia. The team deals with content or behavior on Tumblr that may violate our policies or applicable law. We’re looking for someone with an extensive background in Internet law or online community policy who has also been successful in managing teams.

What you’ll do:

• Manage a growing Trust & Safety team (currently three people)
• Serve as a member of the Tumblr Support management team
• Help enforce and refine the policies and procedures Tumblr uses to manage Trust & Safety issues
• Ensure all of Support is properly implementing policies and procedures
• Work with the team to address potential violations of our policies and the law
• Interface with law enforcement agencies
• Assess and manage legal risk issues coming through Tumblr Support in conjunction with Tumblr Legal

What we’re looking for:

• An extensive background in Internet law and/or online community policy, including issues like spam, phishing, copyright, trademark, and illegal content
• Experience successfully managing a team
• Experience working via email in a help desk or customer service environment
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Great judgment
• Really great judgment
• Nice-to-have: A law degree, with active bar admission in Virginia
• Nice-to-have: Experience interacting with law enforcement agencies
• Nice-to-have: Experience with cross-border/international legal and website policy issues
