It’s the little things you take with you.
I’m sorry if you’ve sent me a message recently and I didn’t respond. I’ve gotten a promotion within Tumblr that requires moving to New York in a pretty quick timeframe, and working out the logistics of that has taken a lot of my time recently.
Richmond is a wonderful city, and exactly what I needed when I turned 18 and moved out of rural Virginia. But it’s easy to conflate comfort with contentment, and what I need now isn’t going to be found here.
There are points in a person’s life when, in order to reach that next big thing, you’ve got to make a leap. The path you’re on hits a gap, and there’s a real danger of falling. I’ve attempted those leaps in the past, and still have the injuries to show for it.
But the biggest mistake one can make is to never try again. So here’s to Richmond, to New York, to risks, and to living.
If you are looking for something to do in Richmond over the coming weeks, you should really make time for this Richmond Shakespeare’s current rendition of King John. I won’t do a review, because a local NPR reporter has already written a better one, but suffice to say that I am someone who honestly isn’t huge on theatre, even less so on Shakespeare. I walked out of it really enjoying it, and it has only grown with time.
